Google Introduces Web Version of Chrome Remote Desktop
As we pointed out yesterday, Google has shut down the Chrome app store. The Chrome apps too, will stop functioning starting January 2018. One of the most popular Google Chrome apps is the Chrome Remote Desktop app – which was created originally for Chrome OS users to get a tool for remotely controlling their devices. Today, Google announced a new web version of the Chrome Remote Desktop.
Over time this Remote Desktop app picked up and became sort of an alternative for Team Viewer. This new web version of the app is still in a Beta phase – but is expected to be out before the month’s end. The app functions in pretty much the same manner as the older Chrome app used to function.
In order to use the Chrome Remote Desktop web app, you’ll still need to install the host program on your PC and have it run on startup. Pretty much everything else has remained the same.
