How To Enable Personal Level Indicators In Gmail
Have you ever wondered that the emails being sent to you are intended only for you or a group of people? Like the cool discounts you get on your favorite products, are these offers personally for you or you are just a part of a targetted group.
Furthermore, what if you want to confirm an email sent to you has been not only sent to you but also to your team members. Whatever you need may be, Personal Level Indicators is an option in Gmail that can tell you whether an email has been sent only to you or a group of people.
In this post, I am going to tell you what is Personal Level Indicators option in Gmail and how you can enable and use it.
What are Personal Level Indicators in Gmail?
As the name suggests, these are indicators to tell you how much personally an email has been sent to you. Was it sent to you only, sent to a specific group that you are part of, or it was sent to an email list where your email was included?
When you will enable it, you will see an arrow indicator on each email. The indicator changes based on whether an email was sent to you, a group, or an email list. If there is a double arrow, it means that the email was only sent to you. If there is only one arrow, then it is sent to a group of people. And an empty arrow means it was sent to a mailing list.
You can quickly look at these indicators to know if a message is solely made for you, or is a generic marketing email.
How to enable Personal Level Indicators in Gmail
You can enable this option right from the Gmail settings. Below are the step-by-step instructions to enable Personal level indicators:
Click on the “Gear” icon at the top right corner and click on the “See all settings” button.
Here, under the “General” tab, scroll to the bottom and select “Show indicators” in the “Personal level indicators” section.
Afterward, click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom to let the changes take effect.
The Gmail web app will refresh and you will see these arrow indicators on all your emails, including both past and future emails.
Although there can be many uses for this feature, I particularly found it useful for identifying scammy emails that seem very legit. If such an email is sent to more than one person, it’s obviously a scam or marketing email. Do let us know in the comments if you find Personal Level Indicators in Gmail useful.
