5 Easy Ways to Organize Apps on Your Android Phone
After you have been using an Android phone for a few months. You may have found yourself running into a situation where you have trouble finding a particular required app on your Android phone. The main screen of your phone may have become cluttered with too many apps. You might also have run out of storage space because of many unwanted apps and other data on your phone, etc.
In order to solve these problems, and a multitude of others such as slow device performance, it is important to keep your Android phone organized. If you keep your phone well organized and free from unwanted apps and data, your phone will run faster, the battery will survive longer, and overall you will have a better experience of using your Android phone. In this article, I will discuss 5 steps that you can take to keep your Android phone neatly organized. So let’s get started.
1. Create Folders
One simple way of making your home screen more organized is to combine multiple related apps installed on your phone in one folder. This way you will know which location to browse to quickly if you need a particular application, for example, an app for social media would be in the social media folder alongside other social media apps installed on your phone.
Creating a Folder
Step 1: Tap and hold on, to an app icon to select that app.
Step 2: Drag the selected app onto another related app icon to create a new folder. This will also group these two apps together automatically in that folder.
Step 3: To rename this folder, open it. Then long tap its name, delete the old name and enter a new name as per the category of the apps.
2. Creating an App Shortcut
If you have an app installed on your phone but does not have a shortcut, or its shortcut got deleted. Then you can create a new one for it in your desired location.
Creating a Shortcut
Step 1: Got to your app drawer by swiping up the small arrow near the bottom of the main screen to get a list of all the apps installed on your phone.
Step 2: Find the app for which you want to create the shortcut in the list, or search for it in the search box at the top of the screen.
Step 3: Once you have located the app, long-tap to select it and then drag it to your desired location.
3. Delete Unwanted Apps and Data
Another way of decreasing clutter and at the same time reclaiming storage space is to delete unwanted data and apps. You can use your own tool or manually delete the unwanted data and apps. Although, I recommend using the “Files” app from Google for this purpose.
Using the “Files” app
Step 1: Tap opens the “Files” app.
Step 2: Tap on the “Clean” at the bottom of the screen and then tap on the appropriate category, such as unused apps.
Step 3: Tap on the app you want to delete and on the next screen tap on “uninstall”.
4. Create Widgets
Widgets are a neat way of seeing the updated information of an app without opening it. You can create widgets for the apps you need to check out frequently at a well-thought-out location on your phone’s screen for quick and better access to that app’s information.
Creating a Widget
Step 1: Long tap on an empty space on your home screen, a small window will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Tap on the Widget option. If you don’t see it, swipe right.
Step 3: Find the app for which you want to create the widget and then tap on it. The widget will be added to an empty space on the screen.
5. Rearrange Apps Manually
You can rearrange all your apps on your home screen according to your frequency of use. One might put all the apps he/she needs multiple times a day on the first home screen, the apps that are needed once or twice in a couple of days are put on the second screen, and so on.
Rearranging Apps Manually
Step 1: First swipe right on the main screen to get an idea of how much space is available on each screen.
Step 2: If the shortcut of the app you want to move to the first screen is currently on the third screen. Then long tap it to select it.
Step 3: Next drag it to the first screen.
