According to Google,
Drive is built to work seamlessly with your overall Google experience. You can attach photos from Drive to posts in Google+, and soon you’ll be able to attach stuff from Drive directly to emails in Gmail. Drive is also an open platform, so we’re working with many third-party developers so you can do things like send faxes, edit videos and create website mockups directly from Drive.
Google Drive will be definitely a game changer because it differs from Dropbox and windows SkyDrive in many ways like –
- It will be integrated with all Google products like Gmail, Gplus and Gdocs.
- It can scan images and documents to give extraordinary search results.
- It can handle and view 30 file types right in your browser—including HD video, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- It will be not just file sharing but easy collaborating and editing document platform.
These unique features make it incomparable to other cloud file storages and possibly this will play a major role in Chromium operating system which is supposed to rely on cloud for all basic capabilities.
It seems like Google is trying to build an ecosystem where all the Google services will be interconnected and you will be left with no other option but to use them. It will be interesting to see if Apple or Facebook now acquire Dropbox to give head on head competition.
